A Formal Approach to Ontology-Based Semantic Match of Skills Descriptions
نویسندگان
چکیده
Skills management has been recently acknowledged as one of the key factors to adequately face the increasing competitiveness between knowledge intensive companies. In this paper we present a formal approach to Ontology-Based Semantic Matchmaking between Skills demand and supply, devised as a virtual marketplace of knowledge. In such a knowledge market metaphor, skills are a peculiar kind of good that has distinguishing characteristics with respect to traditional assets. Buyers are entities that need the skills of people, such as projects, departments and organizations; sellers are workers that offer their own skills. The formal framework supports the semantic match of descriptions provided by demanders and sellers of skills. In particular our approach, based on Description Logics formalization and reasoning, overcomes simple subsumption matching and allows match ranking and categorization. The implementation of the approach in a prototype system, which embeds a NeoClassic reasoner, is also described. 1 A short version of this article was presented at I-Know ’03 (Graz, Austria, July 2-4, 2003) Journal of Universal Computer Science, vol. 9, no. 12 (2003), 1437-1454 submitted: 29/8/03, accepted: 18/9/03, appeared: 28/12/03 © J.UCS

متن کاملAn Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)
Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...
متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملAn Ontology-Based Service Discovery Approach for the Provisioning of Product- Service Bundles
More and more traditional manufacturing companies form or join inter-organizational networks to bundle their physical products with related services to offer superior value propositions to their customers. Some of these product-related services can be digitized completely and thus fully delivered electronically. Other services require the physical integration of external factors, but can still ...
متن کاملNon-taxonomic Relations in Semantic Service Discovery and Composition
Existing approaches for semantic web service discovery are often based on subsumption reasoning, i.e. on evaluating taxonomic relations between the ontology concepts used in the service descriptions. If these concepts are not related taxonomically, no match is found. In this paper we present an approach that recognizes the importance of non-taxonomic relations. To increase recall, it uses opera...
